Award Winning CAD Animation

So VentureFest 2018 is over! And thanks to many people who voted for our AVID CAD Animation in the delegate vote award at the Innovation Showcase.. we WON. But I’m not going to brag on any more about us for this wrap-article. I’m actually going to point something quite obvious out. None of the cool CAD animations and videos we do for AVID would be at all possible without the AVID team. To be honest I think we could call that the AVID family. Just look at this video:

and this one:

You will see in these videos people we work with frequently at AVID. There’s Jack who has to be the most enthusiastic and helpful interviewee ever. There’s Raf who is a man who knows how to get things done and always with a smile. (Raf was in our first AVID video where he jumped up and down on the competitor and AVID’s heat exchangers to show the amazing difference!). We could name-check everyone we know and work with at AVID but above all I want to mention two people. In doing so I want to recognize the importance of a very hard, creative and essential role at AVID.

CAD Engineers who Make Amazing CAD.

In the videos above you will also see Neil Seago and Anita Brabazon. Without Neil, Anita and the rest of the CAD team we could not animate the CAD we do. It’s literally my job to take their ‘hidden’ work and expose it to the wider world. I say ‘hidden’ because that is what CAD engineering often is (unless you work in the design, manufacturing and production process). CAD engineers are technical artists. They create. Now I’m a fairly technical person but largely I’m a visual artist. My models only need to look like they work. CAD engineers and operators are required to make models (every tiny screw, thread, nut and bolt) that literally will work. Their jobs are hard (hopefully well compensated) and incredibly technical. They probably don’t consider themselves to be artists but they indeed are. Look at the beauty in the shapes, finesse of edges and curves. They are engineers, designers and artists and their work is ACE.
