In the run up to our VentureFest North East Innovation Showcase TL Multimedia will be sharing a series of mini case-studies of our work developing 3D CAD animation with AVID Technology. See how we take their CAD models and contextualise them with both video and animations to explain how their products work.
eFan Micro Hybrid Thermal Management System
The purpose of the video in this first CAD animation case study was to demonstrate the features and benefits of the AVID eFan Micro-Hybrid system in the specific use case of a bus. At this point in time we had recently completed a live-action test-comparison video about the uniquely designed AVID heat-exchangers which form part of the eFan MHS (see this below):

For the animated bus video, we open with live-action introductory video segment we shot of Ryan Maughan who is the Founder and MD of AVID. We worked with Ryan to select some suitable stock footage to emphasise the importance of reliability and safety of public transport buses. Then we see a 3D model of a typical double-decker bus and watch as Ryan explains the disadvantages of traditional hydraulic cooling systems. We virtually swap out this old system with a new Avid eFan Micro-Hybrid one and indicate how electrified cooling gives significant performance and reliability improvements.
After seeing the advantages of the eFan MHS we then show additional safety features possible and close with some file images of alternate use-cases. We also show the AVID CAGU (Crank Assist Generator Unit) which is effectively a form of dynamo electric generator which engages on the braking of the bus.
